EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP

FOUNDER & MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. William Akwasi Ankobiah

Dr. William Akwasi Ankobiah is an American-trained physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine and the Founder and Medical Director of Bemuah Royal Hospital in Accra, Ghana.
After extensive medical training and practice in the United States, Dr. Ankobiah returned to Ghana to devote his experience to expanding access to advanced respiratory, critical care, and cardiac services.
Under his leadership, Bemuah Royal Hospital has developed specialized capabilities in respiratory and critical care, including intensive care, asthma services, emergency care, diagnostic services, and other specialty programs.
Dr. Ankobiah also has a longstanding commitment to medical education and the training of healthcare professionals. Through his work with Bemuah Royal Hospital and the Bemuah Health Foundation, he provides the clinical leadership that helps guide the Foundation’s healthcare priorities and initiatives.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Kenneth W. Christian

Kenneth W. Christian is the Founder and President of the Bemuah Health Foundation and a founding board member of Bemuah Royal Hospital in Accra, Ghana.
As President of Maplewood Financial Group and an Investment Advisor Representative, Kenneth brings decades of experience in financial planning, organizational strategy, and client advocacy to the Foundation.
His involvement with Bemuah Royal Hospital led him to establish the Bemuah Health Foundation to help expand access to quality healthcare for patients in Ghana, particularly those who may lack the financial resources to obtain the care they need.
Kenneth leads the Foundation’s fundraising, strategic partnerships, donor engagement, and organizational development initiatives, working to build relationships with healthcare institutions, universities, corporations, civic organizations, and members of the African diaspora.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS ADVISOR

Harold T. Epps

Harold T. Epps is a respected business, civic, and economic development leader with decades of executive experience across the public and private sectors.
As the former Director of Commerce for the City of Philadelphia, he brings extensive experience in economic development, business growth, workforce development, public-private partnerships, and community engagement.
Harold brings to the Bemuah Health Foundation a broad network of relationships and a strategic perspective on building partnerships among businesses, government, civic institutions, and community organizations.
As Economic Development & Strategic Partnerships Advisor, he provides guidance on institutional relationships, corporate engagement, economic development opportunities, and partnerships that can help expand the Foundation’s reach and long-term impact.

CLINICAL EDUCATION & NURSING DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR

Roxanne S. Spurlark, DNP, APRN-FPA, FNP-C

Dr. Roxanne S. Spurlark is an accomplished nurse practitioner, educator, researcher, and healthcare leader with more than three decades of experience in healthcare delivery, nursing education, clinical practice, and leadership.
She serves as Director and Chief Nursing Administrator of the School of Nursing and Associate Professor at DePaul University’s College of Science and Health. A nationally board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with Full Practice Authority, Dr. Spurlark has extensive clinical experience serving vulnerable and underserved populations.
Her professional and academic interests include healthcare leadership, nursing education, family practice and wellness, emergency services, vulnerable populations, workforce resilience, and preparing the next generation of nursing professionals.
As Clinical Education & Nursing Development Advisor to the Bemuah Health Foundation, Dr. Spurlark provides guidance on nursing education, clinical workforce development, academic partnerships, professional training, and initiatives designed to strengthen healthcare delivery in Ghana.

PUBLIC RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR

Matthew E.S.T Kwaw

Matthew E.S.T. Kwaw is a communications and public health professional with experience spanning nonprofit organizations, entrepreneurship, technology, and international partnerships.
Based in Ghana, Matthew brings valuable local perspective to the Foundation’s communications and stakeholder engagement efforts. His professional experience includes work with U.S.-founded nonprofit organizations as well as developing relationships with international organizations.
As Public Relations & Communications Advisor to the Bemuah Health Foundation, Matthew supports the Foundation’s communications strategy, public engagement, reputation management, media outreach, and efforts to increase awareness of the Foundation’s mission and impact.
His work helps connect the Foundation’s activities in the United States and Ghana while communicating the stories of the patients, healthcare professionals, donors, and partners behind our mission.

FINANCIAL STRATEGY & GOVERNANCE ADVISOR

Adanma C. Akujieze, CPA, CISA, CIA

Adanma C. Akujieze is an accomplished financial executive and strategic advisor with more than 20 years of experience in finance, accounting, audit, risk management, corporate governance, and organizational strategy.
She currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of T&M Associates, where she is a strategic business partner to executive leadership and helps lead the organization’s financial strategy and operations.
Throughout her career, Adanma has developed extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting and financial analytics, enterprise risk management, corporate compliance, auditing, business assurance, and organizational transformation. She holds the professional designations of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
As Financial Strategy & Governance Advisor to the Bemuah Health Foundation, Adanma provides guidance on financial stewardship, organizational governance, risk management, strategic planning, and sustainable financial practices that support the Foundation’s mission and long-term growth.

Administration

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT & BOARD LIAISON

dannielle Frierson

Dannielle Frierson serves as Executive Assistant to the President and Board Liaison for the Bemuah Health Foundation, providing administrative and organizational support to the Foundation’s leadership and helping coordinate communications, meetings, initiatives, and board activities.
She brings more than 30 years of professional experience from Independence Blue Cross, where she developed extensive experience in administration, operations, customer service, and organizational support.
In her role with the Bemuah Health Foundation, Dannielle works closely with the President and Foundation leadership to support day-to-day coordination, facilitate communication among board members and external partners, and help advance key organizational priorities.
Her extensive organizational experience and commitment to service provide important operational support as the Foundation continues to expand its partnerships and healthcare mission.
